Final Proposal
Chapbook: I am willing to submit poems to the gender anthology, but
for my main project I want to do a chapbook. I think it would be fun to make it
about baking because it something that a really like, or volleyball. And if
those are too boring then maybe poems about little things that bother me that
probably don’t bother other people but the only concern I have with that is it
might sound to “rant-y.” I want to have a focused idea though so it all kind of
goes a long and makes sense.
I love the baking idea! Maybe your final poems are a set that introduce sections w/ mock recipes or baking moments or vignettes about the power of cooking- I've got a poem about pie and poems that you'll appreciate. I include it here-
ReplyDeleteThe Poet's Occasional Alternative
I was going to write a poem
I made a pie instead it took
about the same amount of time
of course the pie was a final
draft a poem would have had some
distance to go days and weeks and
much crumpled paper
the pie already had a talking
tumbling audience among small
trucks and a fire engine on
the kitchen floor
everybody will like this pie
it will have apples and cranberries
dried apricots in it many friends
will say why in the world did you
make only one
this does not happen with poems
because of unreportable
sadness I decided to
settle this morning for a re-
sponsive eatership I do not
want to wait a week a year a
generation for the right
consumer to come along
